Werewolf - Movie Review

Finally got my ass to the theater to see this one and I had to whole damn theater to myself for the first time in my life!  I'm a huge fan of vampires, werewolves and zombies. I really never grow tired of these genre, but also, this genre have a LOT of misses more than hits. Some try to be too different and destroy the damn creatures.

It's definitely a balance where you're taking something that's been done a billions times, but you're making it original from your POV.

Some ppl don't realize that it's not always about changing the vampire, werewolf or zombie into something different... But more about changing the plot and characters who find themselves mixed up with those creatures that make it unique. That's where the story can make or break itself.

So, having said that, on to my opinion about this contribution to the werewolves genre.

First, it's combined werewolves with The Purge by adding an event that happens every year with the Super moon. And it turns ppl into them.

I was cool with the concept. I like the Purge movies, so it worked for me.

Let me just say, Lucy, the FL, wouldn't be on my survivor team. I can't have ppl bringing chaos into my life. Her character felt like a fake badass.

The way I'd be in the basement with all windows and doors blocked for the night. Ppl in these movies always act like it's so hard to hide and shut the fuck up for a couple of hours.

Chaos ensues because this one idiot scientist couldn't do shit in a timely manner. You'll see what I mean. You'd think the research facility would be state of the art with too notch security measures but that places was a flimsy as a cardboard box.

Again with ppl not knowing when to run is a problem.

Now, what had me side-eyeing this was your typical horror characters. Just ppl doing stupid shit.

I don't know how many times I said  "get your shotgun and why do you have just one?!" But I know I said it more than three times.

As far as werewolves movies go, it was decent. Kudos for the practical effects on the fully transformed wolves. They didn't look that great,.cheap but tolerable. Not the best CGI on the transformations, but also  not the worst.

Storyline is also paper thin. Like I said, the Purge with less interesting characters.

There wasn't any one scene in this movie that was memorable or kickass. The ending was anticlimactic and silly, which is a sin in my book.

FINAL VERDICT - ON PROBATION BECAUSE holy predictably, Batman! I've said all I need to say. Bailiff, you can release this movie, but put an ankle bracelet on its ass. I don't trust it to fuck up royally if I don't keep an eye on it.

Spoilers:

I called the ending at the very beginning. But it still gave me a little surprise. And if we're honest, Lucy, the mom, though they had her playing a badass, was also the reason she and her daughter got in trouble with the wolves.

And didn't you say that there weren't any more shotgun shells? Also, that look in Lucy's eyes at the end, and really, I can't blame her, but you can tell she was thinking "your uncle can be your stepdad, cause damn, look at all that!"
