Superman - Movie Review

ree

Okay, if you know me even a little bit, then you know that I'm a bitch for Superman. There hasn't been a movie I don't love with him in it. Or a TV series.

I have enjoyed some more than others, but I ALWAYS love me some Supe.

Now, when I had to give up Henry C. As Superman going forward, it hurt my heart. But Tyler Hoeclin's Superman filled the void. This new Superman gave me more of what I love. Superman being human. Flawed, a bit arrogant, compassionate, lusty, happy, sad, angry, scared, smart and humorous.

I wasn't one of those hating on James Gunn taking over, because I've enjoyed what he brought to the superhero genre. So, I had faith that he would do Supe justice.

I loved this movie. But let's get into it.

The pros:

It was a lot of character, and by that, I mean heart. Great action, great villain and yes, Lex Luthor is the villain, but what he does is on par. He's supposed to give Superman hell and he did. I also like this version of Lex better than Jesse E. He isn't quite as calculated and charming as say, the Lex from the Superman animated series, but waaaay better than Jessie.

There was humor that was organic and really helped balance out the more intense scenes. It totally feels like a James Gunn production. The CGI was obvious, but done in a way that was still cool and in the case of a certain pup, adorable.

I enjoyed seeing Superman cut loose and I'm saying he fucked some ppl up and I appreciate that. There was that symbol of hope that he represents all throughout the film. And a twist that you don't see coming regarding his parents. That .. I actually liked.

The Cons.

Well, I felt like Superman took a few too many ass whoopings where he didn't utilize all of his assets. It's a reason why he's feared if he goes full tyrant.

And that suit... No, I hate the shorts. Especially these that look like boxers instead of briefs.

That's all I can think of. I really loved this movie. I loved seeing Superman be Clark too. I liked this version of Lois as well. She challenged him in the best ways, but also understood him. Reminded me of the Superman and Lois relationship in that series.

Crazy awesome bonus is Mr. Terrific was fucking TERRIFIC!!! I loved every scene he was in. He damn near stole the show.

Also another thing. This Superman wasn't judgemental either. I found that refreshing. He knew others killed, hell, I think he killed, and he didn't hold it against them. He definitely handled business without remorse.

And there was a cameo that was super fun. Stay for all the after credit scenes.

FINAL VERDICT: INNOCENT LIKE AN UNTRAINED DOG. 😂 Movie, you have managed to delight me and I have no complaints. Well, except for that suit. Bailiff, release this film at once! Roll out the red carpet and limo service too.

3 seconds ago, I posted this review. (Once you see the movie, you'll get the inside joke of the power of 3)
